Lollapalooza, here we come!
Well, me, my beloved Canon Rebel XTi, and Henry are leaving for Chicago tomorrow. We’re going to get there and have a couple days to see the city before Lollapalooza starts.
It’s a bit terrifying, I will admit. Not that I haven’t been out vacationing on my own before, I have, it’s just…every time before someone else has planned it. I’m just incredibly paranoid that I’m going to:
(a) run out of money
(b) get mugged
(c) punch a hippie in the nose at the festival (I have serious problems with crowds, particularly ones with lots of unwashed people).
It’s like, this is something I’ve been wanting to do my whole life (go to a music festival), and now I am and it’s weird as hell to me that it’s actually happening. If that makes any sense.
I’m super excited to go to Wicker Park (the hipster internet guides say it’s a cool place), and see the Sears tower, along with that one building that Wilco had on the front of their “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot” album.
I’m more excited, though, to see the following bands/artists (listed and bolded in order of importance):
Lou foooking Reed
Metric
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
The Killers
Depeche Mode
Manchester Orchestra
Kaiser Chiefs
Arctic Monkeys
Vampire Weekend
Of Montreal (I hear they’re really good live)
The Decemberists
Portugal The Man
Kings of Leon (never really listened to them, but they’re all the rage now, I guess)
Here’s the full lineup list for Lollapalooza.
Does anyone have any suggestions on bands to see, or things to do in Chicago?
